_________________BOOK DISCUSSION

Book Talks with Facilitator Gail Sherman
Thursdays, 7:00pm
Jan 14, 21, and 28, Room 111
Join a book discussion on the current work of the best-selling author of, “I Never Promised You A Rose Garden,” Joanne Greenberg. Greenberg will be reading from her most recent novel, “Miri, Who Charms” on February 25, at 6:30pm in the Reed College Psych Auditorium. Juxtaposing girls growing up in Denver's Orthodox enclave, friendship, questions of love, and spelunking, Greenberg's most recent work, like her earlier fiction, features contemporary characters, like Jews who might live down the street from us, lovingly and sharply observed in the middle of ethical self-discovery. Leading up to this talk, Prof. Gail Sherman of the English Department at Reed will lead discussions of Greenberg's work on three successive Thursday evenings in January at Neveh Shalom.

January 14: Love, Marriage, and Desire in “A Season Of Delight.”
January 21: Fathers, Sons, and Moral Adulthood in ”Appearances.”
January 28: Charm and a Nice Jewish Girl in “Miri, Who Charms.”

Books will be available through the Neveh Shalom library, as well as by ordering through the gift shop, or Annie Bloom's bookstore.
