Foundation School

Our Philosophy:

Neveh Shalom Foundation School, based on the values and traditions of the Jewish faith, is designed to meet the needs of young children age two to five years. We strive to provide experiences that enrich the development of the total child; social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual. Our play-based program includes opportunities for each child to create using a variety of materials, explore the natural environment, engage in small and large motor activities, learn problem- solving activities and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through hands-on experiences. Children develop a strong self image as learners through a balance of self-directed and teacher directed activities. Opportunities for solitary and group play are provided. Our teachers serve as positive role models, and provide care that is warm, nurturing, supportive and responsive to each child’s individual needs. We respect the family as the child’s primary and most important providers of care and nurturing, and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.

Our Facility:

The Foundation School is located in the lower level of Congregation Neveh Shalom’s education wing. Foundation School classrooms and playground facilities provide a rich setting in which children can work and play. The learning environment is specially prepared with children in mind in order to facilitate their early childhood growth and development.

Our Teachers:

Foundation School teachers are skilled, certified professionals, knowledgeable in child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Our staff is committed to creating learning environments that foster creativity, independence, respect for others, and a love of learning.

Our Program:

The Foundation School offers morning preschool programming for 2yr old, 3 yr. old and pre-kindergarten age children. We also have early drop-off, lunch bunch, and extended day available for children who are toilet trained. By offering opportunities each day for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively and spiritually we help guide the immense potential each child possesses. Our Judaic component, rich in Jewish values, culture and tradition, is woven into the curriculum through music, stories and the celebration of Shabbat and holidays, enabling youngsters to form a connection with their Jewish heritage.
