Portland Center for Hebrew Immersion
Who We Are:
|
The Portland Center for Hebrew Immersion offers an array of unique and inspiring programs for children and adults to acquire and enjoy Hebrew language. Our programs are rooted in the conviction that Hebrew language is a fundamental building block to allow Jewish children and adults to feel fully at home as Jews, no matter in which stream of Judaism they participate. From our Notz'tzim and Kochavim programs for tots and children, our Machon Ivrit institute for adult learning and our Café v'Ivrit events for Hebrew speakers, to our Resource Guide for communities interested in creating a Hebrew immersion program of their own, we offer excellence in education: a staff of gifted professionals, innovative pedagogy, best practices in combining formal and informal education, and the underlying principle that learning can be fun! Find out more about our award-winning programs so that you can join our local community of Hebrew learners and speakers or bring these innovative programs to your own community. We are proud of the national recognition and support our programs have received. We are deeply grateful to be recipients of generous funds from the Covenant Foundation (2011), celebrating excellence and innovation in Jewish Education; two Community Impact Grants from the Greater Portland Jewish Federation (2006 and 2011); and two Ma'alot grants (2011 and 2012) from United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism and Nefesh B'Nefesh. |
