Shoreshim (ages 0-5)

Shoreshim logo sThe Shoreshim (Hebrew for "roots") program at Neveh Shalom offers many opportunities for families with young children (ages 0-5 years) to meet, socialize and grow roots in our Portland Jewish community.

Shoreshim coordinates Tot Shabbat services, runs parent social gatherings and workshops, celebrates our newest members with an annual New Babies Shabbat, facilitates playgroups, hosts special Shabbat and other holiday programs, and creates a welcoming space for our youngest members and their parents. Together we enjoy synagogue-wide celebrations with music, storytelling, and crafts; giving families the opportunity for a rich Jewish life. Shoreshim relies on parent volunteers to help plan and participate in events as well as Tot Shabbat. Getting involved is a great way to meet community members and to foster and preserve the vibrant spirit of Shoreshim.

Be sure to sign up for “The Shoreshim Connection,” our monthly guide to happenings (contact our This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Kadima (grades 6-8th):

These events are for 6th-8th graders and they are a great way to become more involved with social life at CNS and are also wonderful preparation for USY. So far we only have the Winter regional event date set.

USY (grades 8-12th):

USY is Neveh Shalom's 8th-12th grade youth group where Jewish teens bond during chapter and regional events, leadership opportunities, and social events. The Pacific Northwest Pinwheel Region unites us, but Portland Rishonim is our home - we are "Living in the Bike Lane" And of course, check out our Facebook page!
