KEVA - A little time for your soul
You may have heard the buzz around town, come be part of the excitement! YOU are warmly invited to come check out KEVA. When you place your mezuzah on your home the prayer to say is "leekboa mezuzah" which comes from the root word KEVA. KEVA means to carve out a space, to set a time, to create a place....for your soul. The flipside of Keva is Kavannah (deep intention/focus) and you can't have one without the other, they live for each other, the yin and yang of Judaism. We study, we sing and dance, we meditate and engage deeply in prayer together...no experience necessary.
We meet in rm.102 at 10:00am
the first Saturday of the month.
For more info email Rabbi Greenstein at bgreenstein@nevehshalom.org.
Welcome!
Prayer and Song We believe prayer can be the deepest expression of the human heart and to come together in song as a community of seekers can be creative and profound. We believe prayer has the power to transform our lives and therefore the world.
Study We search the texts of our Torah to be relevant for our lives and seek to bring their justice, compassion, and healing into our daily lives. An engaging and welcoming Torah study is the centerpiece of our service.
Spirituality of Welcoming We believe prayer isn't about doing it right or wrong. We sit and stand and move around. We know all the words, enjoy humming along, or sit in silence. We come early and late and walk in and out of the room. We come here from different places and for different reasons. Our mission is to celebrate Shabbat and delve into the mysteries of our tradition together.
Family We echo the words of our Talmud that the "world rests on the breadth of children." Although we are not specifically a kids service they are always welcome and we hope to hear the sounds of children playing, laughing, and crying and realize these are not interruptions but part of our collective prayer.
Vision We believe in the vitality of our tradition and our ancient sages' mandate for progression. Introducing new songs and interpretations is authentic and exciting. We are traditional and we are progressive. We are creative, spiritual, and musical. We welcome you to be part of our cosmic chorus.
